1. Minimize Stress What is Stress? Stress is the body’s way of responding to life’s demands. It can be caused by both a good and bad experience. When we are stressed by the things that are going on in our lives, our bodies react by releasing chemicals into the bloodstream. These chemicals give us more energy and strength (aka fight or flight), which can be a good thing if this stress is caused by eminent physical danger. But it can also be a bad thing, if too much of these chemicals are released too often. It is important for us to find ways of de-stressing our bodies naturally.

Here are a few ways to reduce daily stress:

A. Use Effective Communication Skills in your Relationships

B. Get Proper Rest- at least 7 hours of sleep per night. If you are one of those people that needs more than 7 hours of sleep; be sure you are disciplined to make sure that you get the sleep you need. Also, if you are a napper, by all means nap away….studies have shown that napping may add years to your life.

C. Do Not Over Commit. Try not to take on more than you can handle. It is great to want to do “all you can” for everyone but the one who usually winds up stressing is “you”. Take on commitments within reason and learn how to delegate when and wherever possible.

D. Eat Well (see below)

E. Keep Yourself Organized. You would be amazed as to the amount of stress we all put on ourselves daily due to “disorganization” The more organized we are the more effective we can be. It will save us from losing countless daily hours trying to find things etc.

F. Pray or Meditate- “Stay Connected”! It is important to have “quiet” time just between you and the higher powers that be. Even just 10-15 minutes per day is enough to help keep us focused and on track. It isn’t so much the amount of minutes we spend doing it but rather the daily consistency that is important.

G. At the end of the night take a relaxing bath in lavender dead salt to relax those tired and aching muscles. This is a great way to calm the whole body and a great way to enhance a good night sleep.

2. Eat Well

A. Avoid or reduce sugar

B. Avoid or reduce glutens/wheats/white products

C. Avoid or reduce coffee or at least choose organic coffee whenever possible

D. Avoid Artificial Sweeteners! Choose healthier natural sweeteners, I.e.: Luo Han Guo, Xylitol, Stevia, Raw Honey etc.

E. Avoid or reduce commercial fruit juices rather, choose freshly juiced fruits/veggies whenever possible

D. Increase purified water

E. Increase leafy greens and a wide variety of veggies & fresh fruits

F. Increase Fiber

G. Eat Organic whenever possible

H. Choose healthy raw fats, I.e.: flaxseed oil, nuts/seeds, olive oil, coconut oil etc.

I. Choose quality proteins I.e. Free range chicken, turkey etc. Fish -wild salmon…If choosing red meats try grass fed or buffalo meat

J. Eat Seaweeds- supports energy, thyroid etc.

K. Increase foods rich in antioxidants such as organic green tea, greens, reds drinks and organic berries

L. Use fresh organic herbs when cooking

3. Get Proper Rest- Sound sleep helps keep our emotional, mental and physical state healthy. Sleep is when the body does most of its repair and rebuilding. Sleep is when we get to recharge our batteries. A good night sleep prepares us for the next day and helps to keep us sharp and alert. Lack of sleep can slow our immune responses and make us unfocused, cranky, impatient, anxious etc. Also, if you are a napper, by all means nap away. Studies have shown that napping may add years to your life.

4. Exercise- Get out there and move! Exercise raises our “Happy Hormones”, it energizes us, it strengthens our cardio system and gets our circulation moving, it gives us greater flexibility, it helps clear our mind, and it helps keep us fit and trim!

5. Avoid Chemicals Where and When Possible Chemicals are everywhere so we would be remiss in suggesting that you can avoid them completely but here are some steps you can take to decrease some of your exposure:

A. Instead of Wearing Perfumes, Try Scented Pure Essential Oils

Increase your diet with lots of leafy green vegetables and salads daily. Hydration is also key so be sure to drink plenty of purified water daily. If you are so inclined doing some vegetable juice daily can be helpful too…use cucumber and celery as the base rather than carrot. I hope this helps you.
